I Cuss a Little

Before Jordan had back surgery things in our house were...let's just say unkempt. Keeping things clean and in order was one more chore I didn't have the energy in me to accomplish. This sweet family sent house cleaners to my house (which was more of a blessing then I can even explain because my love language is acts of service). When the ladies arrived they asked me, "what are areas that you want us to tackle, the areas that having clean would be a blessing to you." The FIRST area that came to mind was my laundry room. This room in my house is like a torture chamber, it's where socks go to die and I do believe when I have been in there I have heard the laughter of Satan. There are never ending piles of laundry and it smells like tears and lost dreams. To a normal person, they would have said "please, in the holy name if Jesus, clean my laundry room. You don't even have to clean anything else, just clean that one room." Nope. Not me though, I said "I don't know, like, the bathrooms?" I literally shut the laundry room door as if it were the gateway to Mordor, I was doing it for their safety. When these precious ladies left, my house smelled clean and looked clean. All the rooms EXCEPT the one room I wanted to be clean. The bottom line is, I was embarrassed about that room looking the way it did and being in the condition that it was in. The funny thing is, that is what they were in my house to do, clean up the mess.

Boy, does this not reflect our relationship with Jesus at times? We each have that one "room" we don't want Him to see because we are embarrassed by it. We think, "if I can clean that up a little first, then I will go to Jesus about it." Can I be honest? This is such a ridiculous lie that we have been lead to believe. We are all a mess. He knows we are a mess. He came to earth and died for our mess. He sits at the right hand of the Father to intercede on the behalf of our mess.

Jesus is in our life asking, "what do you need me to clean for you?" A lot of times we answer, "uuummmmmm I cuss a little." WHAT??? You cuss a little? Sure, let Jesus work on that, but do you have an addiction to porn? Do you lust after women or men? Are you abusive? Are you a compulsive spender? Are you sick in body or in your mind? Are you a liar? Do you deal with rage? What about unforgiveness? What about the issues that are deep down in your heart that you are afraid of someone seeing or knowing that you deal with? Jesus already KNOWS that those things are in there, He is waiting for you to say, "please clean this for me, I'm tired of trying to do it myself and what I'm doing isn't working anyway."

In Matthew 20:30-31 it says, "Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

You may know Jesus is all around you and you are shouting out to Him for help but the world around you is saying, "you can't talk about that! Don't ask for help with THAT. Watching porn is totally ok, everyone does it. Drinking to excess is fine! Who cares that you lie, we all twist the truth sometimes." The world's depravity become so loud that we accept the darkness in our hearts as "normal".

Then it goes on to say in verse 32-33, "Jesus stopped and called them. "What do you want me to do for you? he asked. "Lord," they answered, "we want our sight."

Jesus hears your cries for help, even above the noise of the world. He hears your voice and He stops to ask you what you want Him to do for YOU! I love that the blind men don't ask Jesus to help them stop cussing, they ask Him to heal the BIGGEST challenge they are facing, blindness. They KNEW who they were calling on. They KNEW Jesus was the healer. They KNEW He did it for others and that He could do it for them too. They had faith. When we go before Jesus we need to get bold and ask Him to heal the BIGGEST challenges we face. Ask with faith knowing YOU can't do it, only Jesus can do it.

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." (John 14:13-14)

"Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26)

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free." (Luke 4:18)

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Go and write down all of the big challenges that you face, all of the sins in your life that you try to hide and are afraid to acknowledge. Jesus is just waiting for us to be honest about the issues we face so He can FINALLY go in and begin to work in way that only He can work. "So if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed." (John 8:36)
