Value Revolution

Five years! This year with be the fifth year I have had the honor and opportunity to help lead Shine, the women’s conference my church hosts annually, here in Dallas. I look back to our very first women’s gathering, Sisterhood, and I remember sitting in my car in the parking lot of LaMadeline contemplating putting the key back in the ignition and going back home. I was so skeptical of the whole idea of women’s ministry and I wondered if this would be any different then the ones I had been a part of in the past. Would I be accepted, would I be able to relate to anyone, would I be asked to do something ridiculous, would I walk away wishing I could get those two hours back? These are all questions I had AND I WAS A LEADER!!

In the past I had been hurt by other women, I had been disappointed, rejected, overlooked, gossiped about and this left a foul taste in my mouth towards anything woman related. Then, Oneka McClellan entered the picture. She radically changed my perspective not by the words she spoke from a stage rather by the way she lived the words she spoke. She spoke life, encouragement, hope and purpose into me, and she actually MEANT the words she spoke. She showed me how to actually like people and be genuinely nice to them, I learned how to lead with strength and grace. Just by having her in my life, I am a better person. And I am only ONE of the many who have been personally impacted by her and now I get to invest into, love and lead people like she does. I GET to be a part of a church that is changing the landscape of heaven and it has changed my world in radical ways.

This is actually what Sisterhood is all about. It’s not about Oneka but it’s about the heart and the spirit with which she leads Sisterhood. We are intentional about placing value on the women around us, the same value Jesus places on them. We are intentional about setting the table for every ONE that walks through the door because God has given us the ability to see women the way He does and every detail matters. So many women are walking around completely lost and broken and we have made it our mission to be a movement of everyday women, passionate about bringing heaven to earth and we are declaring this is the season for a value revolution!

I recently attended a conference in New York City, as my friend and I were walking through Time Square a girl caught my eye. She was sitting on the sidewalk holding a cardboard sign that read, “homeless, stressed out, embarrassed.” I kept walking but the scene continues to replay in my mind, I wish I had stopped, looked her in the eye and told her that she is valuable and seen.

Those three words written on her sign summarize an epidemic plaguing humanity today.

Women feel homeless and they are searching desperately for a place to belong, to fit in and call home. They are stressed out because we are told daily we aren’t enough so we fight to get to the top, stay at the top and maintain an un realistic standard for success. They are embarrassed because of the sins they are guilty of and live under a canopy of shame and regret hoping they can do enough or become enough to absolve it all. Women are trying to find their way home, a place where they are accepted, forgiven, valued and loved.

The good news is there is such a place. When we turn to Jesus for help He shows up with answers. He is the antidote for this epidemic because He is: comfort, peace, clarity, hope, joy, provision, healing, freedom, strength, protection and salvation. With Jesus we never have to walk around “homeless” because He has accepted us into HIS family. We never have to fight for acceptance, because He has accepted us just as we are. We don’t have to be bound by shame and condemnation because His sacrifice paid our debt and set us free.

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15 NLT)

Humanity needs this hope and God has positioned YOU to be His light and mouthpiece here on earth to share this good news with the hurting around you. Jesus is the answer to every hurt this world is feeling, you are the one He is sending with that answer.

Maybe you wonder the same thing I once did, maybe you are skeptical, maybe you doubt that this is real, maybe you have been hurt by the women you once trusted, maybe you question your worth and value. If that’s you If you I would like to personally extend an invitation for you to join us for Shine. Would you join me Sunday, October 30th at 6pm at the Majestic, I want to save you a seat. We have been praying for this night for a year and I am believing God has an appointment set up just for you! I can tell you from personal experience this is real, my life has been changed and transformed and He wants to do the same thing for YOU!

****If you are not in Dallas, you too can be a part of this value revolution. Start right where you are. Love those around you, speak life into them, let God fill you up so you can pour into the lost and broken around you. Get plugged into a church and serve on a team (serving on a team positions me to be grateful), be a part of the solution to the brokenness of the world.

You can register here! We would love to meet YOU!
